NDIS Readiness

SWARA is enthusiastic and well-prepared for the NDIS.

The Federal Government has introduced the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) through the NDIS Act 2013. Clients set their own goals and pathways and will be funded to achieve those goals. The scheme involves a different way of receiving funding for services in the industry. The system will now supply funding directly to participants who can self-manage or have NDIA manage their funds, providing more choice and control over the services they select. NDIA is the agency that delivers on the act for the government. Queensland will have rolled out NDIS over the whole of the state by July 2019. Brisbane and surrounding regions will begin the scheme in July 2018, Ipswich is set to begin July, 2017. SWARA has been doing everything possible to keep clients and families well informed and active in the new scheme.

Following the development of NDIS, SWARA has attended countless conferences and spent a great deal of time preparing to support clients and their families/carers through this transition. In addition, our

goal at SWARA is to ensure our clients not only have access to services from SWARA, but also to other services in the community. Being prepared for NDIS rollout requires having goals and pathways to achieve these aspirations. We believe and support all goals our community wishes to achieve. We are doing the best in our abilities to be equipped, not only to sustain SWARA but also to provide additional and higher quality services to our community.
