In-Home Support provides personal, domestic and community assistance, so you can live more independently while staying safe and connected. This includes funding for disability-related assistance with daily living activities, such as cleaning, cooking, personal care, and skills development, to help participants to live more independently.
In-Home support is funded through the NDIS Core Support Budget within the ‘Assistance with self-care activities’ category.
NDIS participants with significant or permanent disabilities that impact their ability to perform tasks at home. Participants also need to meet specific residency and eligibility requirements.
To access In-Home Support funding, you need to include your living and home support needs in your NDIS planning meeting and provide evidence of how these supports will help you to pursue your goals.
In-Home Support services include:
• Domestic Assistance such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Personal Care including dressing, showering, mobility support and medical supervision.
• Overnight Support: Sleepover or active overnight support if required
• Skill Development: Training to increase participant independence such as budgeting or cooking training.
In-Home Support funding does not cover daily living costs unrelated to your disability such as food, rent, utilities bills, or entertainment expenses.
Generally, you are responsible for providing everyday household items and supplies such as cleaning supplies, consumables, and groceries. However, the NDIS may fund disability-specific equipment such as adaptive equipment such as shower chairs and non-slip mats.
swara is a not-for-profit community organisation that thrives with the help of our donors and volunteers. Every donation makes an impact and helps continue our legacy of loving service.
Volunteers are a vital part of our community. Whether you’re helping with programs, joining an outing or simply sharing time and conversation, your involvement creates real impact and joy.
