swara Founders’ Day Speaker, Lorin Nicholson OAM, is a true inspiration!
swara is thrilled to announce our annual Founders’ Day event guest speaker, Lorin Nicholson, OAM.
Many people consider living a normal life a huge achievement for someone who is blind. If this is the case, Lorin Nicholson certainly defies the norm. At age four, doctors diagnosed Lorin with Retinitis Pigmentosa RP and with only 10% sight, was declared legally blind, but instead of allowing this to define him, he chose to chart a course of monumental achievements. At the heart of Lorin’s philosophy is the belief that the greatest mountain we climb in life is the mountain inside ourselves.
With over 30 years of experience, Lorin has become one of the nation’s leading and most sought-after Remedial Therapists and trainers. Throughout his career, he has treated over 35,000 patients, including Olympic athletes. His advanced training workshops continue to empower therapists across Australia, enhancing their skills and enabling them to transform the lives of their patients.
Remarkably, Lorin is also:
• an Award-Winning Musician:
• Best-Selling Author:
• Record-Breaking Cyclist, and
• Inspiring Motivational Speaker.
Lorin’s extraordinary life is not only a testament to his incredible achievements but also a clear message to all that with optimism, resilience, self-belief and determination, one can not only lead a successful life, but also inspire countless others.

Moyia O’Brien. Founders’ Day serves as a testament to the Pink Twins’ enduring legacy, which has touched the lives of many. From humble beginnings to an organisation that has become a beacon of hope for people of all abilities.
About the Pink Twins
In 1975, Swara was founded by two remarkable women, Dorothy and Moyia O’Brien, the Pink Twins. Using their own funds and support from loyal supports they established swara.
The Pink Twins understood that we all need a to have a sense of value, belonging and build relationships that are secure. Dorothy and Moyia identified that the greatest barriers our participants faced were a lack of self-esteem, isolation, and rejection.
The Pink Twins spoke about finding a spark in someone and fanning it until it became a roaring fire.
At swara we are committed to nurture sparks into flames by celebrating all abilities. The legacy of the Pink Twins isstill going strong warming the hearts of many through loving service. We celebrate this legacy every year at our swara Founders’ Day event.
